Riverford Organic grows and delivers award-winning fresh organic fruit and veg boxes straight from the farm to homes around the UK.
Riverford Organic franchise delivers fresh organic produce to local people by the most direct route possible. Having won a multitude of awards including the Observer ethical product of the decade 2015, Riverford Organic is a full member of the British Franchise Association.
The Durham & Consett franchise first started trading in 2008 and has grown from zero deliveries, to around 300 households receiving an order per week.
The majority, of the deliveries are to regular, repeat ordering customers on a weekly or fortnightly basis. This has provided a stable and sustained income for the business for many years and would provide the incoming franchise owner an excellent, solid foundation from which to grow the business further.
In 2014 the territory boundaries were extended to include the adjacent South Shields and Sunderland areas, making great use of the efficiencies available to the business in terms of rounds and delivery days, as well as providing extra marketing opportunities.
The territory stretches through a large portion of the North East and combines a good mixture of urban and rural area customers. Key conurbations include, Durham, Washington, Houghton le Spring, Sunderland and Stamfordham.
The collection hub is centrally located, allowing the territory to be easily and efficiently serviced. At present this is done utilising one van and 2 part time drivers.
The business is mature and as such has developed a cost-effective and streamlined system for administration and deliveries, offering plenty of scope for the new owners to spend precious time growing the business and maximising its potential.
One of the most effective marketing channels is via face-to-face activities, and there are lots of opportunities within this region. Customer acquisition over the years has been gained through attending a number of key food festivals and markets which have provided a constant influx of new and loyal customers.
The main shows include The South Shields food festival and Cramlington food festival, Living North events, Durham markets as well as a number of smaller shows.
There is plenty of scope throughout the area to build on the existing customer base and a sustained approach to marketing and events will without question bring a good deal of growth.
With an asking price of only £32,50 and a 12-month turnover of £407,111 this territory offers a great opportunity to run an ethical and rewarding franchise, in a sector that is currently worth over £2.2billion*.
