Katie Astles has spent the past 16 years working in Information Technology for large companies including Unilever and Atos. But now she is swapping IT for ironing as she launches her own eco-friendly domestic homecare business, Bright & Beautiful.
Starting on a Customer Support Helpdesk in Atos Katie moved on to work as an IT Change Manager before joining RR Donnelley as a European IT Change Manager creating and managing their IT Change process as well as providing training to all of the firm’s European IT teams. Katie then worked at Unilever before having her first son Leo and then she went to work at Radius Payment Solutions. After her second son Toby was born in February this year Katie decided to launch a profitable and flexible business that she could build around her family.
Having spent all her working life in an IT role, Katie wanted to find a new way of working that would allow her to take a new direction in her life, to have more flexibility in her working day as a busy mum and to stay true to her green values. With her new business Bright & Beautiful she will also be creating a number of jobs for other women and men who want to have a career but not at the expense of family life.
Katie’s new Bright & Beautiful business is also set to bring a very different domestic housekeeping service to the area, using only eco-friendly and non-toxic products and delivering ethical, professional and eco-friendly cleaning, tidying and laundry services.

Bright & Beautiful is an award-winning business model that was founded by entrepreneur Rachel Ray in 2007. A busy working mum herself, Rachel spotted a gap in the market for a domestic cleaning company that provided full fair employment rights for its team, non-toxic cleaning products and an exceptional housekeeping service for its clients. Since then the business has grown from strength to strength with franchisees around the UK employing carefully vetted professional housekeepers and servicing thousands of clients.
