As a qualified primary school teaching specialising in early years, Sharon Keirle saw how creativity was losing it's focus within the school curriculum.
Believing that creativity is a fundamental part of inspiring people of all ages she left teaching to persue a new career and now runs award-winning, fun, creative art and craft classes, after-school clubs, parties and events for all ages in Cranbrook, Dawlish, Topsham and Exminster areas.
We asked Sharon to share why she loved providing creative activities in her community- this is what she said:
"My family are my priority so I wanted to be able to fit my work around them and also have something that can change and adapt as their needs change. I loved being a teacher, but found that I was having less and less time actually teaching and I wanted to be able to use my creative skills to inspire children and enjoy learning again."
"Creativity is so much more than being arty or musical. It is a mindset and way of thinking that opens up so many possibilities...we need to ensure children develop their creative skills and thinking. At 'The Creation Station' we embrace and celebrate everyone's creativity in whatever form it takes"
"As I had never run my own business before I didn't feel confident that I had all the skills necessary to run my own business so was looking for a proven business model which provided excellent support. The values and ethos encompassed everything I believe in and we are like one big family."
"I have loved visiting different nurseries to deliver our 'Little Explorer' pre-school art and craft sessions. Our art and craft holiday clubs across the school holidays with Tyrell Sports are fab and I love working with other local businesses such as Powderham Castle and The Orange Elephant."
"I love how I can spend my days inspring everyone from babies in our newborn keepsake sessions to the elderly in our 'Care and Creativity' craft workshops in the care sector."
"Excited, happy and content! Everyday is different and I hope to lead the way in developing and delivering STEAM workshops in local schools and pre-schools and to run more corporate events for team building and mindfulness."
