WPA hold 2014 Annual Conference and announce award winners

WPA - Annual Conference

WPA held its recent annual conference at head office in Taunton Somerset for the first time in its history with the entire franchise team attending. The aim was to help build relationships with the head office support staff, celebrate the achievements of 2013 and launch 2014 in style.

Over the two day period the team were updated on all the key developments in products and services. Voluntary training sessions were also offered on all aspects of running a WPA franchise from IT to ethical sales practices. The sessions were hugely popular and full to capacity.

The evening was a chance for the team to network, share ideas and have a general catch up over dinner. Some then adorned their dancing shoes and danced the night away.

The evening was also a celebration of the franchisees that have gone above and beyond in 2013 and had a really successful year.

Jacqui Shaw - South West AwardThe South West Franchisee of the year was Jacqui Shaw.

Jacqui joined WPA in May 2011 following a career in commercial broking. With her partner, she runs an extremely successful franchise in Devon. Jacqui and her team have become an integral part of their local community and well known for the excellent service and advice they provide. In 2013 Jacqui has grown her business by over 40% and has a retention rate of 95%.

The South East Franchisee of the year was Paul Geoghegan.Paul Geoghegan - South East Award

Paul is a fairly new member of the team, joining in April 2013. Paul took over a large portfolio of customers in Surrey after the previous owner retired following 15 years with WPA. It is a very difficult task to take over an existing business and maintain a good retention rate. Through Paul’s dedication to his customers he is achieving well over the average at 88%, whilst also steadily growing his business.

Neal Gaskell - Midlands/North AwardThe Midlands/North Franchisee of the year was Neal Gaskell.

Neal is still within his mentor period at WPA but has got his franchise off to a flying start. He joined in March 2012 after a long career in the armed forces. Neal looks after the area of Leeds and in his first year of trading he has doubled his portfolio of customers. Neal is a determined individual and works tirelessly to promote his business. His professional approach to his franchise and the ethical advice he provides has inspired others.

The North UK & Northern Ireland Franchisee of the year was Simon Marks.Simon Marks - North UK & NI Award

Simon is another franchisee within his first two years with WPA who is going from strength to strength. Simon came from the banking sector and took over a well-established portfolio of customers in Northern Ireland in November 2012. Faced with a hugely competitive market, Simon has worked hard to maintain the high standards of the previous franchisee and is succeeding. He has a retention rate of 90% and in his first full year has enrolled over 100 new customers.

Lynda Buntin - Overall AwardThe overall WPA Franchisee of the year was Lynda Buntin.

Lynda is a true example of a model WPA franchisee. She is truly dedicated to ensuring her customers receive the best advice and service they can. Lynda joined WPA in 2009 as the franchisee in the Kettering area and since then has gone from strength to strength. She has grown her business steadily each year and in 2013 her business increased by 50%. She handles the balance of enrolling new customers with providing support to existing ones effortlessly, maintaining a consistent retention rate of over 90%.

The Chief Executives award was given to Dan Wade.Dan Wade - Chief Executives Award

Dan is the franchise team’s youngest member. At only 27 Dan runs a hugely successful franchise in Essex and has grown his business by 100% in the last year alone. Dan has previously been awarded WPA’s franchisee of the year award and was in the final of the HSBC/BFA Franchisee of the year awards. Dan was awarded the chief executive’s award for his achievements in the role of Director of New Franchise Development. Dan is rock for new franchisees and runs the mentor programme, focussing on support for franchisees in their first two years.
