Former Beautician to Oven Cleaning Franchisee

Oven Cleaning Franchise
Former beautician Charlotte George, who swapped glamour for graft after joining the family conservatory business, has opened the door on a whole new career with the launch of oven valeting service Ovenu Caversham.
The 30-year-old, from Reading, has long held an ambition to run her own business and gained valuable experience working alongside her dad at Mark George Conservatories, which specialises in repairing and upgrading timber conservatories.
Before that, she trained as a beautician, working in a local salon and as a freelance makeup artist. However, when her dad asked her to help out, she found herself unexpectedly drawn to being ‘on the tools’.
She said: “I really enjoyed the practical side of the job and ended up joining him full-time for nine years. I also learnt a lot about how a business operates, from customer relationships to managing workloads and delivering quality work.” Alongside this, she ran a side business cleaning roofs, further building her entrepreneurial confidence.
“I’ve always wanted to run my own business, but getting the ball rolling was the biggest hurdle,” she explained. “My mum had previously used Ovenu, so I already knew the quality of the service. Choosing the franchise route gave me the confidence to take that step - you’re working for yourself, but with a trusted brand, proven systems and ongoing support behind you.
“Customer service, attention to detail and taking pride in doing a job properly are things I’ve always valued, and that’s exactly what Ovenu stands for.”
Her immediate focus is on building a loyal client base, with plans to grow the business in future and take on an additional oven cleaning technician.
Ovenu founder and managing director Rik Hellewell said: “Charlotte has a strong work ethic, genuine customer focus and the confidence to run her own business, and we’re delighted to welcome her to the Ovenu network.”
The Ovenu process involves dismantling key oven components, such as doors, panels, fans and shelves, and cleaning them in design-registered tank equipment using safe, non-caustic and biodegradable products. The service leaves ovens in near showroom condition, and also covers hobs, extractor hoods, microwaves and range cookers.
Ovenu Caversham covers the RG1 and RG4 postcodes, including Caversham, Caversham Heights, Caversham Park Village, Emmer Green, Chazey Heath, Sonning, Sonning Eye, Southcote, Newtown and surrounding areas.
