Just over a year ago, Nick Kington swapped his high-flying marketing job in Reading for a new life as a self-confessed veg nerd.
As a Riverford franchisee, Nick owns his own business delivering organic produce to homes across Cambridgeshire.
Twelve months in, Nick hasn’t looked back. He says:
"It was a pretty drastic change. But the time to break free from 9-5 office and urban life felt right. It’s not always been smooth sailing but the highs far outweigh the lows. I’m so grateful to all my customers for giving me such a warm welcome."
Nick now delivers more than 350 boxes of organic veg, fruit, dairy, meat and other produce, each week. Grown on Riverford’s regional farms and by a network of local organic farmers, the company aims to provide good, fairly produced food to as many people as possible.
"I was a Riverford customer long before I ever thought about becoming a franchisee. I do the majority of the cooking in our house and have always valued high quality ingredients grown with nature rather than against it. I’m keen to help people understand how their food is produced and the impact of the different options."
David Simpson, Riverford business development manager for the East explains:
"Nick really has fully immersed himself into the Riverford way of life. As a long-standing customer himself its great that he was already familiar with our brand and products and can use his personal and commercial experience to engage with his existing customers and spread the word to potential new ones."
