A local mum and ex-primary school teacher from Oakworth has just launched her award-winning baby and toddler swim programme Turtle Tots, in the Halifax/Calderdale/Craven/Pendle region.
Having taught primary-aged children for the past seven years at a school in Keighley, Tamsin Foxon wanted to continue using her teaching skills but in a career that would offer her greater work life balance to spend more time with her son. As a result Tamsin has purchased a licence from popular baby swim brand, Turtle Tots, to provide sessions in the local area.
Transferring her teaching skills to the pool is a no-brainer for Tamsin who previously attended Turtle Tots classes with her baby son at another location. Tamsin wanted to get her own baby into the water from a young age and soon saw the benefits of doing so. Tamsin is also aware of the need for quality progressive baby swim programmes in the area.
"The great thing about Turtle Tots is, it’s perfect for babies right from birth but it is also a progressive baby swim programme. It doesn’t stop at splashing around in the water – although it is about having fun too, but it is also about progression and ultimately building that all-important confidence in the water."
Tamsin has also followed in the footsteps of her identical twin sister Calli Walkerdine who also runs a Turtle Tots business in another region.
"I was inspired to buy my own Turtle Tots license by my twin sister who was also a teacher previously, it made complete sense to transfer my teaching skills to the pool in this way. I still get to teach but I can work more flexibly too. My classes are affordable, fun, safe and structured, babies and parents will learn new skills every week and a vital life-saving skill in the process."
From September 2016 and will be donating a portion of her revenue to the Friends of Phoenix School and the Yorkshire Children’s Trust in Halifax.
Caroline Sparks, Commercial Director of Turtle Tots Ltd commented on the launch of Turtle Tots Halifax:
"Tamsin is a natural with her well-versed teaching skills, she instantly connected with the Turtle Tots brand and values and we hope that she will bring something truly different to the area via sessions that are progressive and fun. We look forward to seeing her classes blossom in the future."
