Hayley talks to TotalFranchise about the Bright and Beautiful business that she runs with her husband, Adam, in Manchester, Wilmslow and Alderley Edge.
I chose a Bright & Beautiful franchise because it instantly stood out in comparison to all other franchises. I am passionate about the ethos of the company and the excellent service it offers. I have always been adamant that whatever I do needs to be ethical, profitable and excellent in what it offers and Bright & Beautiful certainly ticks all the boxes.
I bought my first franchise in April 2011 this grew rapidly and so we expanded and bought our second area in February 2013.
The support we receive from Bright & Beautiful HQ is second to none, that is definitely one of the things I appreciate most about being a franchisee. Our company always strives to improve and excel in our field of work so not only are we growing and strengthening on a local level but also nationally.
I also enjoy being a franchisee because I am in charge of my own working days and hours. I can build the business around my life and make it work for me rather than me working for it. I can also build the business at a rate that suits me and set and achieve my own goals.
I am very proud that we have been able to offer employment to many local women. We offer fair wage and working hours and provide roles within our company that allow conscientious workers to progress and develop within Bright & Beautiful. I consider it a privilege to see our employees grow in their skills and confidence and establish a secure working career.
The difference between being an employee and a business owner is massive; I have always been a conscientious employee however you never work as hard for someone else as you do for your own business. Being a franchise owner requires you to carry a huge responsibility but the reward for all your hard work is definitely worth it; you get out what you put in. It has also given me the freedom to choose my working days and hours and has set me up for a successful future.
I am recently married and my husband and I run the business together. It has definitely had its challenges (as I’m sure anyone married would understand) however it is exciting to be able to do something together.
We currently employ 14 team members and we definitely have plans to increase as we that as we grow. Managing people can be difficult but it is also very rewarding. We are only as strong as our team so we work hard at managing our team well. We are very proud of our team and each team member is a great asset and representative of our company.
Being a business owner definitely allows you to enjoy a better quality of life. Not only does it offer financial rewards but also an opportunity for me to grow, develop and improve personally in my confidence and skill set. After running my own business I am confident that if I put my mind to it there is not many things in life I would not be able to achieve.
Equally challenging and rewarding, as I have already said when you work for yourself you work harder than you ever thought possible but the rewards are even greater for doing so.
There has been numerous challenges along the way but each one has made us develop and become stronger and wiser. Carrying the weight of responsibility of managing numerous teams and clients has been difficult along the way but we have managed to work through it and fine tune the way we do things. I bought my first business at the age of 21 whilst in my first year at university so managing the business and studying at the same time was a challenge. However my hard work paid off as I graduated in July 2013 with a 2:1 in Counselling and Therapeutic Studies and had a strong and growing business to step into straight away.
No, we leave the cleaning in our teams expert hands so we can focus on building and growing our business.
Yes definitely. Our clients want to know that their homes are in our safe hands. We use only eco-friendly cleaning products and equipment so they do a great job without causing any harm to our client’s health or surfaces. We also want to protect our team who work with our lovely products all day.
An excellent cleaning service really has become more of a necessity rather than a luxury. Our client base covers most social groups; we have lots of busy professionals; young and old, working mums and dads, elderly and those who prefer spending their time doing life enhancing activities of their choice rather than worrying about cleaning!!
