Ovenu Solihull 'sets up' Lyndon Colts for successful season

A team of budding Solihull footballers has been given a much-needed boost by one of the town’s businesses.

Elliott Robinson, who is the owner of oven valeting firm, Ovenu Solihull, has supported the Lyndon Colts Under-11 Cubs for the upcoming season after donating £300 to the club, which will be used to pay for football kits, training equipment and coaching accreditations for its volunteers.

Shelley Mansbridge, Lyndon Colts Under-11 Cubs’ manager, had previously worked with Elliott as a childminder for his daughter, so after hearing about the financial constraints of the club, he decided to sponsor the team.

Shelley said:
"Grassroots football is being hampered as a result of increasing pitch hire fees imposed by councils, which prices clubs like ours out of training on proper facilities, which is why we tend to use public parks. Elliott’s support has been such a welcome boost as it has allowed us to purchase vital equipment that will benefit the kids.

If it wasn’t for parents and individuals like Elliott then we would cease to exist because there’s only so much we can do and pay for, with increases in rentals and also in gaining coaching qualifications. I am very grateful to Elliott for his financial support, and hopefully with the infrastructure in place this can lead to some excellent results on the pitch this season."

Elliott added:
"I’ve known Shelley and her family for a long time, so I was more than happy to get involved and support the team. I often get involved with deserving local causes and charities and hopefully Lyndon Colts will benefit from sponsorship money and have a successful year ahead."

Ovenu Solihull serves homes and businesses throughout the town, Olton, Dickens Heath, Shirley, Dorridge, Hillfields, Tidbury Green, Chelmsley Wood, Elmdon, Meriden, Balsall Common and all surrounding areas.
