High Wycombe businessman 'hangs up his gloves' after successful 14 years

A longstanding High Wycombe businessman has ‘hung up his gloves’ as he prepares for retirement following a successful oven valeting career.

Norman Hogan, business owner of Ovenu High Wycombe, has called time after 14 years, amassing more than 6,000 oven valets since 2002.

Norman, 66, previously spent 20 years working in IT, in Cape Town, South Africa, before returning to the UK and establishing Ovenu High Wycombe.

Norman said:
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Ovenu and have built many lasting friendships with customers over the last 14 years. It has been challenging, but equally as rewarding, as I have seen the business grow considerably since I first started out.

Having worked for myself previously, in South Africa, I knew all about the benefits of self-employment, which shaped my decision to join Ovenu and I haven’t looked back since. With no specific goals, financial targets or pressure, I was able to work around my own commitments and it has been an enjoyable chapter of my life.

I am now looking to pass on my wealth of experience to someone new, who can take the business forward and carry on my work. I would like to thank each and every one of my customers for their support and loyalty."

Ovenu is a franchise network made up of more than 100 businesses owned by men and women working throughout the UK.

Rik Hellewell, Managing Director and Founder of Ovenu, said:
"Norman has been a pleasure to work with and has been one of our longstanding franchisees. He has built a thriving small business with a loyal customer base and I would like to wish him all the very best in his retirement."

The Ovenu valeting process involves dismantling key components of an oven such as the door, interior panels, fan and shelves and placing them into design-registered tank equipment, which uses safe, non-caustic products to clean the oven parts. The whole process takes around three to four hours and leaves the oven, hob and exterior in immaculate condition.
