An award-winning butcher has given a helping hand to a newly formed business to bring joy to one lucky customer.
Mettrick Butchers has partnered with Ovenu Tameside to mark the oven valeting firm’s launch through an online competition for a complimentary oven valet.
Ovenu Tameside, which serves Tameside, Glossop, Mossley and Saddleworth, was established by Pat Kelly, from Glossop, after he spent more than 25 years as a sales representative for companies including Carlsberg before running a pub/hotel.
After hearing about Pat’s launch, John Mettrick, managing director of Mettrick Butchers, reached out to him to collaborate with the competition, which Mrs Linda Hilton won after hearing about it at Mettricks’ Stalybridge store.
"Starting a business presents many challenges but with the support of Ovenu’s network and local businesses, such as Mettrick Butchers, it makes the whole process a lot easier. I am very grateful to John for his support which has helped the business hit the ground running and would like to congratulate Linda on winning the competition.
Cleaning the oven is one of those jobs that is always the last thing on peoples’ minds and there is certainly a demand for the service, so it was a no-brainer to start out with Ovenu. I am now looking forward to building a good client base throughout Tameside and Glossop and build on my initial success."
Mettrick Butchers employs 60 staff and operates three shops in Glossop, Hadfield and Stalybridge, which includes abattoir, butchery, catering and bakery services, as well as an online shop and sandwich bar.
Mr Mettrick said:
"I was delighted to help Pat out in this way, as I understand the challenges of operating a business and running a family-owned firm. I would like to wish him all the very best and look forward to partnering with Pat again in future initiatives."
"I’m a regular customer of Mettricks and thought I would give the competition a go, as I had never had my oven professionally cleaned before. I was delighted to win the competition and really pleased with the Ovenu service and end result!"
