Prontaprint Franchisee Case Study
With a career in the print industry spanning over 20 years, centre director of Prontaprint Dundee and Aberdeen, Tim Stobbs, knows better than anyone that reacting quickly to advances in technology and changing client needs are key to a successful business.
Taking on his first centre in Dundee in 1986, with the help of a Government grant start-up scheme, and adding Aberdeen to his empire in 1999, Tim has expanded his team of staff from two to 14 and is now experiencing sustained year on year growth. After 20 years of trading from two High Street stores, Tim moved his Dundee centre to a purpose built industrial estate location in order to expand his service offering and accommodate a range of new technology.
The move, coupled with being amongst the first centres in the country selected to trial Prontaprint's new brand repositioning, has helped to ensure that his business has gone from strength to strength. With an enhanced business service offering across design, print, display, direct mail and finish, Tim has come a long way from his first years in the industry.
Adopting the company's new brand identity has helped to promote the centre's solid business credentials and re-inforce its position within the on-demand business print market in the area. Tim comments: "It is a great achievement to have taken on my first Prontaprint centre over 20 years ago with the help of a Government grant of £40 a week and built a successful and thriving business that now serves the print needs of businesses throughout Dundee and Aberdeen."
"Moving off the High Street has given me the opportunity to further enhance my service offering and business potential. Overcoming physical constraints of space has allowed me to invest in more machinery and new technology. These developments, along with the ability to share work across the two centres, means our turn-around times are now quicker than ever and quality is at an optimum. The success of both centres is built on a combination of reacting to changing customer needs and supplementing Prontaprint's business support with my own resources. "
"The new brand identity is not just about smartening up our look and facia, but evolving our brand positioning to ensure we continue to meet the needs and exceed expectations of local businesses both now and in the future."
