I Just Love My Job!
How many women can actualy say they love their job and really mean it?
Hi, I’m Denise, 37 and single, living in Southsea and have been working in sales since leaving Bournemouth University in 1991. I’ve had an interesting career so far, some great jobs earning a decent wage but others not so great.
In the past I’d looked into starting up my own business selling shoes, as I love them. However, I was put off for several reasons, the investment I would need for stock and I’ve never really considered myself to be particularly entrepreneurial and think I would be far too nervous about starting something up completely on my own.
Then last April I met up with Marcella, an old university friend who had just moved to Hitchin who told me about her recently purchased franchise business called Shoes Galore! This concept sounded absolutely ideal for me as the initial investment needed was considerably lower than starting up on my own and Shoes Galore was already an established business concept with franchisees already selling shoes by party plan.
Within a week of meeting up with Marcella, I had arranged an appointment with Lesley-Ann (the master franchisor) and after meeting with her, discussing the opportunity and seeing the wonderful shoes, bags and belts, my mind was made up – I was ready to purchase this business opportunity.
It didn’t take me long to raise the finance and once my business bank account was opened and the contract was signed, I was ready to start and I held my launch party on the 18 May 2007. I’ve been running Shoes Galore Southsea for nearly a year now and it’s been one of the best years of my life! Seriously, it’s been fun, it is hard work (like any business) but it’s enjoyable and I’m happy with the results financially and the changes I’ve made in my life.
I started with evening parties whilst still working full-time and the response I received on the collection of shoes and bags we stocked was amazing. Ladies love the fact that our shoes are mainly designed by Lesley-Ann, are exclusive to us and that we only manufacture a limited quantity so as not to flood the market. Our collection sells mainly from £19 to £79 and we offer a style of shoes in at least four colours, not the average brown and black you find on the high street, but in yellow, red, orange, green, pink, purple, teal and many more colours! The comfort of the shoes is amazing and we are so competitive on pricing compared to high street shoes that the shoes just sell themselves – it’s really the easiest sales job I’ve ever had!!
Since January of this year, I have given up my full-time job and I am concentrating solely on my Shoes Galore business. I am continuing with the evening parties, which will always be the core of my business, but I am also hosting corporate events during the day in local companies, hospitals, schools and business centres, basically anywhere where there are ladies – as this business is a mobile operation!
My diary is getting very busy now and my party sales are very good. Our summer collection is a real winner and I find it difficult to choose what styles to put into my collection as we have so many to choose from. You can operate this business part-time around your family commitments, a couple of evenings a week or like me you can make it a full time commitment. The choice is yours and the best is that if you have party sales of £400 then your gross profit is at least £200 – for only a few hours of enjoyable work.
Whether you’re a mum looking to work around your family commitments or someone who is looking for a fantastic business opportunity to really build a great business for the future, then I would certainly recommend a Shoes Galore business – after all, people will always need shoes and as most women know, once you see that pair of shoes you like, it’s impossible to say no! I seriously love my job! It’s the best job in the world and I’m the happiest I’ve ever been! My friends have seen a real difference in me – I’m really positive about my business, I’m much more relaxed and I certainly don’t want to go back to being an employee!
