Franchisee case study for Stuart O’Neill:

Pro-actions - Stuart O誰eillI joined Pro-actions in October 2015 working in Essex. After some initial training I was asked by Andy Linnett if I would be interested in helping one of our Local Authority Partners (Brentwood) to organise and run a Business Event.

I jumped at the opportunity as I felt it would be a great chance to help the Borough, earn some fees, meet some new people and forge better relationships with the Local Authority.

Our tender was sent in and Andy and myself were called to a meeting with representatives of the Local Authority and Brentwood Chamber. It was a bit of a grilling but we gave it our best shot and 2 days later we were appointed.

It has been a hugely exciting project and I have been responsible for setting up the first event of this type t be held in Brentwood. The work I have undertaken includes:

  • Negotiating pricing for the venue and with suppliers
  • Liaising with the key stakeholders including sponsors, speakers, exhibitors and the local Chamber
  • Managing the budget to make sure the Local Authority gets value for money
  • Negotiating a sponsorship deal with a large firm of solicitors

It has been a steep learning curve, despite all my business experience and we are now in a position where we have now sold all our exhibition space, speakers and workshops are ready and visitors are starting to register.

I have met a lot of new contacts and influencers and really enjoyed the challenge.
