Katie talks to us about starting her Little Squigglers business in Fife:
I, like many Mums, wanted to have a job that I enjoy that also fits around my young children. Sounds simple but in reality was harder to achieve. The flexibility of running my own business appealed to me greatly but was also an extremely daunting option hence my decision to look into franchises.
Running arts, craft and messy play classes sounded like an ideal option for me as I have a keen interest in this area and also know that my kids enjoy it and so do lots of others. The benefits of these kinds of classes is well documented and it just seemed like the ideal fit.
Choosing Little Squigglers was quite an easy choice for me too. I looked into the different franchise businesses in this area and this one stood out. Amanda's knowledge in this area shines through from first contact with her. The classes are really well planned and thought through and the information provided from the start reassured me I was making the right decision.
The recruitment process consisted of a really good chat initially to insure I understood all that was involved in running the classes and the commitment required to make the business a success. This was then followed up with a face to face interview which was great as it's so important for both parties to meet each other and feel confident in each other.
The next stage was a comprehensive four day training course in Bury St Edmunds. This was jam packed full of information and I got to see the classes in action which was great. There was a lot of information given but I was also given my Operations Manual which is invaluable. I left the course feeling confident I could start my classes running in the knowledge that there was the team at head office behind me to help out and provide guidance whenever required. Regular contact with Amanda has been great and helps me to have the confidence in running my franchise effectively.
I am now the proud owner of a Little Squigglers franchise!! It was a very big decision to make but one that I am extremely glad I made.
