Meet Kiddleydivey’s latest franchisee! Kathryn tells us about her decision to start her Kiddleydivey business.
Since moving back to my home town of Oldham 2 years ago, I was feeling rather unsettled in my career and was looking for a change of direction, but wasn't sure which way to go.
I tried a couple of things, but then found the Kiddleydivey website whilst searching the internet. It sounded very interesting, and something I felt I could do, so I telephoned Sally and had a chat with her. She was very helpful, gave me a lot of information, and fired up my enthusiasm for taking on the franchise. I did some research locally, speaking with various people who have experience working in care homes, and with people with dementia, and felt even more that this would be a very fulfilling, rewarding career.
I did my training with Sally in the middle of April, which definitely confirmed that this was something I would really enjoy, and then I came home and hit the telephone. The free taster sessions are going really well, and one of the first homes I went to booked me there and then for the next 6 months, and a Christmas session as well. They also asked me to go in and be part of a promotional video they were doing at the home, showing the residents enjoying the activity. Other bookings are in the pipeline, and I am hoping to get these sorted soon. I'm continuing to offer free sessions to generate interest and spread the word about Kiddleydivey.
The support from Sally is great, she's always at the end of the telephone if I need any help with anything, and the equipment supplied by her is very good. I'm so glad I decided to join Kiddleydivey. It's early days just now, but I know it will provide me with a good lifestyle, financial security, job satisfaction and the flexibility to work as and when it suits me.
