Ian Moyle joined the ChipsAway network five years ago and he couldn't be happier with how things are going:
"I previously worked as an AA patrol man and although I really loved being out and about, getting people back on their journeys, the hours were always very unsociable and I felt I was missing out on family time, which I didn't like!
A few years into running my franchise, my son Josh unfortunately lost his job, and so purely by accident really, he ended up coming out with me, which is when we discovered he was pretty handy with a spray gun. We worked out of the same van for a while, but, whilst I love the fact that we're working together, this was perhaps a bit too close a working arrangement, and he now has the responsibility and autonomy of working from his own van.
Just recently we've taken on a third van and actually employed one of Josh's friends from college, Liam, who is just getting up to speed and doing really well.
I decided to go down the multi-van route instead of opting for a CarCare Centre straight away essentially to keep overheads to a minimum, and it's working nicely! Ultimately I do foresee us moving into a fixed base workshop but I also still want to maintain a mobile presence as so many of my customers value the convenience we can offer through this."

I’m absolutely thrilled with the way my business is going. I wanted something flexible, that was not massively expensive and which had the potential for growth. ChipsAway fit the bill and has proved to be everything I’d hoped for. ‘It does what it says on the tin’, and if you follow the business model you can’t go wrong!Andy Cornell, franchisee since 2011
