After attending a Discovery Day Krishna Chaudhuri started running Tatty Bumpkin Notting Hill in September 2014.
Krishna Chaudhuri – Tatty Bumpkin Notting Hill franchisee has been running her business since September 2014.
I am originally from India and have been living in the UK for almost 10 years now. After my masters I pursued a career in the corporate sector, working in the area of communications and corporate responsibility. In 2008 I decided to use my skills and follow my passion to work with children as a Montessori pre school teacher. I have been working with children for many years now and am blessed to have two of my own!
While I really enjoyed being a teacher, sometimes I missed using all the business skills I had acquired over the years. I had been looking for something 'more' for some time and had set up the usual channels for getting information.
One day, the words 'Tatty Bumpkin' popped up in my inbox. I can't explain it but I almost instantly knew that buying a Tatty Bumpkin franchise was what I was going to do. I did my research and even changed holiday plans to attend one of the Discovery Days. I saw Sam Petter demonstrate a class - and my feelings were confirmed. The classes are truly unique - I could instantly see what children in my class or my own children could gain from the sessions. I bought the London Notting Hill franchise the next month.
I have really enjoyed running the classes so far. I can see how children are progressing - not just with their physical skills but also their confidence! My grandfather has written books on yoga and is a practitioner even at 97 - so in some ways I feel like I was meant to do this!
Running a business has it's ups and downs, some things work and some do not. You need to be self motivated and keep working hard. You also need to move on fairly quickly even if you feel disappointed. The Tatty Bumpkin support network is fantastic - both head office and other franchisees. And a smile on children's faces is the best reward for me. I really enjoy working with children and running a business at the same time - couldn't have asked for more!

Overall, I absolutely love teaching Tatty Bumpkin, the classes are so much fun, the children never cease to amaze me and the laughs I have every day make this job one of the most interesting and definitely most rewarding I have ever done.
