William Allan was looking for a business better 'suited' to him

After 20 years in retail management, William Allan was ready for a change of direction.

After 20 years in retail management, William Allan was ready for a change of direction. After meeting the Countrywide Signs team at a franchise convention, William felt he had been fuelled with enough information and the confidence that he would be provided with the sufficient tools to be his own boss.

Countrywide Signs - William AllanWilliam said:
"Investing in Countrywide Signs was a lot less daunting than the prospect of setting up my own business, I felt that I had support every step of the way and a guaranteed territory which I could use to my advantage. What really appealed to me about Countrywide Signs was that they were a van based company and the fact that I could take control of my workload. This opportunity has given me the independence and the courage to go further and progress professionally that the retail career couldn’t."

William's decision to change careers didn’t come lightly, he thought about it for nearly 8 months before taking the step. In that time he researched many other van based companies, but found Countrywide Signs to be by far the most appealing.

William is based 15 minutes north of Newcastle in Northumberland, where he has lived all his life. He is still in the early stages of his Countrywide Signs business but is now able to get on the road and very excited to get his Countrywide Signs business up and running.

William has 4 children, the youngest at just 8 weeks old. Having a Countrywide Signs business now means that he can spend the weekends and evenings enjoying time with them. Cycling, walking his dog and snooker all features in his spare time. He is currently getting into golf and aims to beat the father in law soon!

William's target is to have 3 to 4 vans on the road in the first 2 to 2 and a half years. Although he doesn’t mind the driving at all, he aims to be managing his team as this is what he has experience in and excels in.

William continues:
"I was really impressed with how Countrywide Signs’ advisors helped with my situation. My investment was coming from a frozen pension fund and accessing it proved to be a lengthy process. To anyone considering investing in a franchise, I’d simply just tell them to go for it; I couldn’t find any drawbacks and had no real concerns along the way. They’re a great company to be a part of."
