Adam Smith Set Up Revive! Luton in October 2008

Adam Smith and his girlfriend, Kim Richardson, set up Revive! Luton in 2008 and have developed the business with 5 vans, employing a team of four repair technicians.

Adam Smith picked up early on in his career in pharmaceuticals research that a job for life doesn’t seem to exist anymore and he quickly formulated a plan to work for himself.

However, in 2008 and at only 28 years old Adam was relatively inexperienced:
"I was attracted to franchising as a proven business model and felt that it offered me the best way of starting to work for myself.

I’d always been interested in cars from an early age and at one point looked at employment opportunities in the motor industry, but then my father suggested Revive! to me. He knew Mark Llewellyn (Managing Director of Revive!) and he thought I might enjoy running a car-related business."

Together with his girlfriend, Kim Richardson, Adam decided to go for it and in October 2008 they set up Revive! Luton. Since then the couple have developed the business and now run 5 vans, employing a team of four repair technicians.

Adam says there have been many high points during the past five years:
"Earning £2k in a week was a particular high point as this coincided with setting a record as the highest earning first month for a Revive! franchisee. Other high points include beautiful sunny days, a job well done and a sense of pride in what I do that I have never experienced in previous jobs."

Between 2011-2012 Revive! Luton achieved 91% growth with a further projected growth of 55% in 2012-2013. In 2014 the business was awarded Franchisee of the Year out of a network of over 75 Revive! businesses across the UK. Adam and Kim were also commended for the support they have given to other Revive! franchisees in neighbouring territories.

On winning the award, Adam said:
"We have built a strong team at Revive! Luton and we are very optimistic about the future of the business. The foundations for our success are similar to the values that Revive! UK holds so close, namely outstanding customer service and technical excellence in terms of the work we do. Receiving this award has given me and the team a real boost. We plan to extend our fleet to seven vans in the next 12 months and there are some new innovations coming, so watch this space!
